This site is designed so its scholarship can be read, navigated, viewed, and downloaded by as many people as possible.
Our approach
The site uses semantic headings, visible keyboard focus, descriptive link text, text alternatives for images, high-contrast colors, responsive layouts, reduced-motion support, and a skip link. The seven Can Computers Think? maps include downloadable PDFs and machine-extracted text alternatives alongside the visual deep-zoom viewer.
Known limitations
The maps are complex, large-format visual documents created in 1998. Automated text extraction can contain reading-order and transcription errors, and it does not fully communicate their spatial argument structure. Some older scholarly PDFs may also have incomplete tagging.
